Parents

Have you seen the show Preppers or heard of the movement of people who believe we're headed for a variety things, including but not limited to: financial collapse & economic ruin, martial law, food shortages, and complete civil unrest?
A lot of these people have underground bunkers and a large food supply, and some of them think things such as, the government can control the weather. Conspiracy theories run rampant when anything bad happens.

Two of these people are my parents.

I love my parents dearly, and I realize that ultimately they send me their newsletters and warnings and information because they love me and my family and want us to be safe. I also really hope they never find this blog, because I truly do not want to hurt their feelings which is why I have to write this here or I will explode at them. However, I cannot take anymore. I can't read one more "newsletter" telling me "vital information" and then promising the rest when I subscribe or buy something. I don't want to hear about pulling my money out of the bank because I won't have access to it, or closing AnonHim's 401k because it's "too dangerous" or that I should buy gold & silver as an investment. I don't know about you, but Target didn't take gold the last time I checked.
I don't want to hear, EVERY DAY, about how "when things go down" or "when the sh*t hits the fan" that we can all live together in a commune and I should have 30 gallons of gas in a tank to get up there and that I should have months of food in reserve or my children could potentially starve.

I'm just hanging on by a thread here, people. It takes all my energy to get through each day and do all the things I need to do and oh! Have I mentioned that I suffer from just a TEEEEEEENSY BIT of anxiety? Oh, no, your warnings aren't making THAT worse AT ALL.

I recognize the value of being prepared for anything, and I have done what I can to make sure we are prepared for emergencies. I've heard you. I get your message and if, somehow, I am wrong & the world as we know it is truly ending, then I will be contrite and as sorry as the day is long.
Beyond that, you can keep your tin foil hat.
